Its very expensive to tune Vtech, vtir engines. EP82's (or any turbo) can be tuned much easier. Even just a flash tune costing about $60 american dollars could easily see the starlet gain 20 kilowat. If you want a vtir to gain 20klwat you have to spend much much more. To be honest the VTiR's are not out there to compete against forced induction cars, they are good against other NA 4cyl cars.
(DC5 and EP3 are the exception).
Spend $1000 on a 82 and your running 14 down the 1/4 mile maybe less.
The 2000 models are the EM1 which are pretty much slow for its engine but then again the b16s have huge potential. The EG6 and EF9 are alot lighter and faster. St
Stock for stock EP82s are quick than VTIs but VTI has more potential.
yeh i have driven many, they do drive well. Sound good and feel respsonsive but just not fast. They are a good make car just not quick, unless you have an EP3. EP3 is awsome!
I raced a modified vtir 2000 model civic coupe with high mods in my friends starlet on 9psi and it couldnt keep up if it tried. The vtec sounds awsome just not quick.
lol, why would that be surprising. The starlet is much quicker. All civics are slow and boring. Civic only started to pick up speed during the ep3 series. All other Sir's, vti's all rubbish.
