My walkthrough of Deus Ex's sequel, Invisible War. After some consideration, I decided to make a nonlethal, cleaner, more concise, and more exhaustive run than the other video walkthroughs.

This video takes us up to the first Order Seeker. Since almost everything up to that point is dialogue, I won't bother adding annotations for skipping it.

Q: Why are you playing as a chick?
A: The overwhelming majority of the videos I've seen on YouTube feature a male protagonist. I wanted to do something different, and provide opportunities to listen to the female's voice acting. (I'm not one of those people who play as chicks in RPGs just to feel sexy about it.)

Q: Why don't you use the high-res texture pack?
A: I wasn't really impressed by it.

Q: How do you hack machines so quickly at Level 1/2 Neural Interface?
A: I sped up the videos at certain intervals, which I marked with an ASCII fast forward symbol on the left side.

Q: Why don't you use links in the annotations to facilitate skipping dialogue?
A: I tried them and they caused the video to freeze, so I don't want to risk having that happen to others.

Q: Are you going to do a walkthrough for Deus Ex 3?
A: Maybe. It depends on the quality of the video walkthroughs that exist when I get a computer that can record smoothly with high graphics settings.

Q: How are you capturing and encoding the video?
A: I capture with Fraps and then encode with AviSynth & MeGUI. The basic specs are x264 2-pass 4096kbps (turbo), Nero AAC 192kbps CBR. Please don't ask me to teach you how to use them.

  • I hate how you always jump like you are on the moon in Invisible War. It's also strange how you can toss things around like they were completely weightless...

  • @xjod9 As Greg Kasavin has said, all the physics objects can be thrown like "styrofoam", but it's entertaining at times. I once threw a group of unconscious bodies onto a roof from the ground.

  • I loved your non-lethal walk-through of the 1st Deus Ex. Nice to see you're doing the 2nd one. I reckon it's going to be rather short compared to the first game though.

  • @XxAznDarknezZxX It'll be shorter, but I hope you'll enjoy it just as much--well, at least the walkthrough part.

  • How do you run the game at such a high resolution with recording? You must have a powerful computer.

  • @wYeL333 I bought an i5 750 during Christmas, but I don't think such a powerful processor is needed for a 2003 video game.

  • @ijoemil

Ever heard the term "Speak softly and carry a big stick"?

    The perfect assassin masters that.

  • @ijoemil

    100 % right there

Don't forget it's a game from 2003, I agree it could have been better but there aren't many games with good voice acting from that time. Nowadays games are so much better in terms of sound and graphics...but yeah some old games are just better :) not DX 1 and 2, 3 is much better :)

  • Exploding facility not enough to make you want to just leave? Man these people are stupid.

  • The voice acting is beyond terrible, the characters sound like 15 year olds as supposed to hardcore agents trained to kill

  • Great game. Not as good as the first one but still great.

  • incredible, how they might change the game so much? the chart is much better

  • Glad I'm not the only one that lags in this awesome game....

  • If they ever decide Silent Hill isn't creepy enough they should reuse the character models from this game.
