idea for you.....
take some rail, strip it down so you have the individual rail without sleepers, and glue that rail to the sleepers outside of the running rail but on the inboard side, so as you look at it is
platform....running rail, running rail, third rail
....third rail, running rail, running rail, platform.
the idea being to emulate southern rail electrification

@Xantec Thanks for your suggestion. I have used this method in the past and it worked well. I also started laying 3rd rail on the layout in the summer using the Peco individulay insulators & code 60 rail. This did not fare too well outdoors though, especially when cleaning the running rails which require a really good rub with a peco track rubber. I can't use a relco on the layout as my layout is all DCC now.

@simjammor123456 take a look at some of my other videos for an answer to that

I love your videos, and just had to take a look at this one concerning your move into the garden.
Does outdoor running cause any detrimental effect on the locos longer term, such as replacement parts needed, more servicing etc?
It's great to see trains running at mainline speeds, which would be unrealistic and mostly unachievable on indoor layouts.
Keep up the good work, your vids are much appreciated.
Did I notice a Bristol VR badge in the shed window on one of your vids? Good bus!

The Bristol VR plate was purchased in the very early 1980s by me at Southdown Portslade Garage open day. Sadly both the Bristol VR and the garage no longer exist in Brighton!
