Featuring Young Pianist Eshan Denipitiya and Nupathi Nilambara Geeganage on Sri Lankan traditional Drums
These young Sri Lankan Musicians performed this fusion composition at the Sri Lankan Life TV Competition organized by the "Rupavahini" -the National Television of Sr Lanka on 05th Oct 2009..
The performance highlights the beauty of Sri Lankan traditional melodies ("wannams") and the complexity of the Rhythms and sounds generated by traditional Drums ( Geta and Pahata Rata Bera used here).
Different Time signatures such as 9/8,7/8,6/8,5/8, and 4/4 were used in this composition and you will also hear the inclusion of Chopin's "Revolutionary etude in Cm" also played on 9/8 and on 4/4 , and also melodies based on "Kamhaj "Raga.
Eshan started Piano training under Ms Dharmi Mudalige at the age of 6 and currently is trained by Ms. Ruvini Hapugalle while Nupathi learned his traditional Drum skills under the Guru Ravibandhu Vidyapathy.
I love the rhythms and the enthousiasm!
I don't understand the commends, but I would say go on!
greetings from the Netherlands.
