This was a PR set/rep for me. My old PR was 529 lbs, which I pulled at the USPF Chatsworth meet back in January. This rep was very smooth! No sticking, stalling, and apparently didn't give me too much struggle. This was my 3rd lift. I will definitely go heavier for my next meet.

  • nice lift! i like when people don't dump the weight.

  • Thanks dude. This was an easy lift, too. I might do another competition next month--I want to get to a 600 lb deadlift this year!

I try to control the weight on the concentric as well as the eccentric, even though the rules don't say you need to go down slow.

  • great lift! even put it down slowly. imo, the deadlift has replaced the squat as the king of the powerlifts, simply because it requires less 'equipment' to assist. the fact that this appears to be your best lift shows great potential. keep it up...

  • Hey, thanks a lot dude! I try to make it an effort to put the barbell down really slow. For me it assures that I have full control of the weight. A lot of guys slam it down, and I don't have anything against it, but this is just my style.

I agree with you! You know that old saying "The meet don't start till the barbell hits the floor". I think it's the king of all PLing exercises because it starts with a concentric, and shows how much starting strength you have.

    Thanks!

  • Awesome! You made that lift look easy as well. I'm sure you'll be hitting 600ibs in no time. must be cool to have so much progression!

  • Hey, thanks dude! Yeah, I've been very pleased with my deadlift progression so far, and I'm really motivated to get to the 600 lb mark as soon as possible.
