i agree with what you said about the beach boys influencing the beatles .You only have to listen to Penny Lane to hear that it was obviously influenced by God Only Knows!! I think both bands influenced each other imo.
No offence, but as far back as "Surfin' USA" Hal Blaine was on drums- Denny hardly ever got to play on the studio tracks: there's a period interview from Brian where he said he was upset cos he'd just had to wipe Denny's drums off "Lil' Deuce Coupe". Even Brian himself usually left the bass duties to Carol Kaye as he was too busy behind the console.
Hal Blaine didn't play on "Surfin' USA", the song or the album. Frank Devito played drums on the song. I think Hal's first Beach Boys song may have been "Our Car Club", or another cut on the Surfer Girl album.
I don't think Carol Kaye played on any of their albums regularly until the Summer Days! album. Most of the bass duties up until that point were done by Al Jardine or Ray Pohlman.
Thanks-I haven't seen the contract for Surfin' so I assumed it was Hal as it's obviously not Denny. Hal is on Fun Fun Fun, though, and the contracts I have for "Today" list Carol Kaye on Fender Bass. I just thought your comment that the Boys "typically did everything" was slightly off the mark, as all the singles made heavy use of supplementary session guys. No insult to the boys-Brian just wanted the best.
I have a similar story like sunray65, When I met carl wilson he ask'd me to tounge bang his back door, I said whats tounge bang your back door, He said I want you to fuck my asshole with your tounge,,I was piss'd and walk'd away!!

I have it on a British single, the B side of Barbara Ann.
