@Gatsby999888 But, if alcohol is a means to offer relief in the beginning before the person has gained the tools and knowledge to have their sea legs to rely on a certain form of relief, that being.... a connection with their inner being, then from my point of view, I'd say... whatever works. There is a wonderful clip here on you tube re: the 12 steps with 12 additional steps. I forget now who uploaded it, but it was recently uploaded and it is GREAT, for this discussion!

@Gatsby999888 You know, from my perspective... this is a tricky question because, there are many people who have developed various addictions... to alcohol, to meds, to sex... or whatever to fill the void in such a way that they are temporarily offered some kind of relief... I've even known people who constantly get surgeries, and not because they really need them, but because it offers them a big distraction. And I wouldn't want to condone anyone going off the deep end... have to finish later.
