@XXGOLDENXXDRAGONXX Hey I use the Fluval Plant Stratum and it is fantastic. No ammonia spike at all, the plants are growing really, really well. It was a bit alarming at first as the water turns black when it is first put in but just let it filter it all out overnight. Also keeps PH fairly neutral. Excellent product.

Im going to use a substrate similar to this and have a few questions... Does this substrate compact well on plants? Does it have to be rinsed? Does it give the nutrients needed for plants to grow? And whats your overall opinion?
Thanks

Substrate for the soil is not needed. Only bottom filter. Plants grow well, the soil reduces the carbonate hardness and acidity of the water to the optimal parameters. soil does not wash. Personally, I like this primer. I recommend it. And most importantly it does not contain nitrates and phosphates.
