hahaha i´m sure there are many drummers who destroy portnoy in this piece...jazz is much more complex as a jam, Bill Bruford or Gavin Harrison easily catch this song and improvise over it but i love Mike Portnoy as a progressive metal rock drummer¡¡ Hes very good..Love this TRIO

@PoligonoCurioso Well he did drop out, and never paid attention to any of the classes besides singing ones as far as I've heard.

@yahyalilli You really need to do your homework and stop comparing professional musicians, they all have their strengths and weaknesses and jazz is one of portnoys flaws

the rhytm is to hard for this kind of music.portnoy is a good player ,but not for jazz.
-
...It just isn't the same without Petrucci's breakneck solos.
-
@musicofammers what?

@PoligonoCurioso de acuerdo, aunque personalmente me parece interesante, más allá de los tecnicismos, así empezó john cage y vea lo que sucedió!

portnoy doesn't know how to play jazz and rudess doesn't have any kind of swing... it's just the same fast shit in every song but this time with some jazz chords (rudess)... I'm starting to think that Berklee is ashamed of Portnoy...
John Petrucci's wife went into labor while the four of them were recording, so he had to leave. Rudess Levin and Portnoy still had studio time booked so they just jammed. Hence, the Liquid Trio Experiment.

People of all kind of likes and dislikes, there is no need to argue wether the drums or too loud, or trying to convince others that Mike Portnoy doesnt play Jazz well. I agree with Bagelboy615 , they're just having fun, so just let them, sit back.. and enjoy :)
