On July 6, 2009, Educators, Elected Officials, Candidates, Activists, Parents, and Students, climbed up ;the steps of the Tweed Courthouse on Chambers Street in City Hall New York City, in protest to Mayor Bloomberg's control of the New York Education System and what he's done with that control over the past 8 years. At the front door of the Courthouse, NYC Councilman Charles Barron of the 42nd District, Challenges Bloomberg's title as "The Education Mayor" by declaring the higher test scores as a scam and that overall, the Mayor's policies on Education has been a dismal and expensive failure in New York City.
This demonstation took place days after The NY State Senate did not support the vote to extend his control over the NYC School System. Anyone who wants to get involved, are urged to Call NY State Senator Sampson at 718-649-7653.
This demonstration was organized by the New York City Coalition for Public Schools under the Leadership of Jitu Weusi, Long time educational activist from the Ocean Hill Brownsville Struggle of the 1960's, and the original educational architect of Independent Afrocentric Schools that now exist across the country.
Simple solution. No more public schools. Fire all administrators, bureaucrats, and teachers. Hand out vouchers. This would save the taxpayers money, give the parents more choices, and give the children a chance for a better education.
