Gehn wasn't going to have Cho shoot the Stranger, but upon realising he hadn't brought the donuts...

At first I thought Gehn gave a waving order to Cho to shoot the player (like when Obidiah takes the first iron man suit, and says, "All right, let's finish up here." And everyone else shoots all the assassins) but now I noticed that the guard just did it on his own. Scary.
