I guess it's much more fun to slander people and flat out make things up in a desperate attempt to prevent more people from gaining access to health care.

What happened was that after Katrina, Louisiana received billions of dollars of insurance money which on paper made the state look much richer than it actually is. This meant that the federal Medicaid formula would cut the amount of funds it gives to Louisiana. It was obviously unfair to punish Louisiana for the "crime" of suffering the most hurricane damage.
Why didn't she do something about this five years ago? Simple. Medicaid sets its state funding shares every TEN YEARS.

Landrieu claims that she "can't be bought" and that the deal that her state received could be had by any state with a natural disaster. But I have to point out that while Senator Landrieu cites Hurricane Katrina as her states personal natural disaster, none of the other Gulf states are in the news as getting this provision. Hurricane Katrina was nearly FIVE YEARS ago, during which Ms. Landrieu has been a Senator, why wait five years to push for this type of Federal aid? Do I smell a payoff?
