Has austrian economics worked anywhere and Allende was,nt against private enterprise, he was against foreign powers principally the U.S dominating the Chilean economy. It was the united states that brought the chilean economy to its knees and the economy despite American aid worsened under Pinochet.

@foofkanon Austrian economics works everywhere, because Austrian economics is everyday economics - you go to buy bread - you get the bread sold to you. Basic human action.
Allende nationalized (stolen) private copper companies, imposed price controls and wanted whole economy to work by the will of the central planning board. But economy does not work that way - that's why it crumbled. Not because of United States. Even US does not have that kind of power to kill an economy from outside.

Wow! You know very well how the true story of those times is. Not even majority of the chileans have a clue about their own history. Most media, even the right-wing one, continously are giving their back to the Government of General Pinochet.
I am not a rabid militant of the General Pinochet, but I praise what he did against these commies bastards who ruined my country in the past.
You polish people, know very well how terrible communism is.
¡VIVA CHILE! ¡VIVA POLONIA!

@claudiomagno666 Thanks, much appreciated! This is exactly so - I am so appalled by those young people who really see communism nowadays as something miraculous, but would not listen to those who actually lived under it, scoffing with such statements like "it was not true communism" or similar sophisms.
Pinochet was the right man at the right time and had the balls and courage to step down, knowing that he would be haunted to the end of his life by the bastards he in fact spared!

There are times in which I wish a coup would happen here in the US to remove the foolish, self-righteous, and corrupt government officials and replace them with ones that truly believe in individual empowerment through economic freedom and individual rights like what the Founding Fathers believed but elections will do for now.
I may not approve of every one of Pinochet's methods but he did quite a bit of good by ending the food shortages and removing that Marxist bastard. Your band is talented.

@Infantry9 Thanks for your comment.
I'm afraid that elections will not do, I mean - even if somehow magically guy like Ron Paul becomes president with a majority Tea Partiers in the Congress, the spending cuts will immediately produce massive unrest, especially among the public sector labour unions and what then? But there are some generals in US military, who really see the problem of the public debt, and who may already be planning for the eventuality of cracking down on unionists.
