@lumieresrei Just because money are being poured to Cambodia, does not help it. Cambodia needs stability and get helps more by teaching Cambodia to fish not give it fish. I was just in Cambodia, and it is sad to see how big the income gap. People are niether really poor or so well-off that they have multiple houses and servants. Those stars that were creative are dead, crew said, the population is very young and its basically starting all over again. All of Asia copy works from the West.

@lumieresrei I totally agree with everything you said... Cambodian people are still shy on showing what they do, do to Khmer Rouge invation. Pol-Pot brain wash all Khmer people ( all afraid to speak up). Now people are living with fear still. It doesn't help the Khmer people at all when they still have the corrupted government running the country!!!

"Open your mind". My mind is wide open, it's why I suggest to Cambodians to be creative and not copying others' hard works.

Why are you upset by "stupidity commit by my countrymen"? Have you committed any? I notice one thing with the cambodians, it's impossible to voice criticism. If you dare to do so, either you're treated as not patriotic or the people get angry. I repeat please please learn to accept positive criticism if you want to move forward.

From 1979 to 1998: was it Pol Pot in power or someone else? During the Vietnamese occupation, nothing kept Cambodia to emerge 'cos nobody was killed like before because of their creation. I remembered watching movies starring Tep Rindaro, Ampor Tevy. And we khmer abroad praised them for the creativeness. Can't they try to be crative like before? If Cambodia is soo poor it's because of the corruption. Have you calculated how much money pour into Cambodia since the peace agreement every year?

You forgot that after the Khmer Rouge Genocide 1975-79 that killed about 90% of the educated class, artists, musicians, actors &etc.. The Vietnamese occupation 1979-1989 & continued civil war closed Cambodia off to the rest of the world & stiffled rebuilding & recovery efforts. From 1989-97 Cambodia was STILL in a civil war & NO STABLE government, thus hampering ANY PROGRESS....NO PEACE=NO PROGRESS.

You gotta DIG DEEPER to find out the root of the problem. Cambodia from 1975-1997 experienced GENOCIDE, FOREIGN OCCUPATION, CIVIL WAR & WORTHLESS LEADERS FIGHTING FOR POWER with each other. There wasn't any PEACE & STABILITY for the country to RECOVER & REBUILD & foreign investors stayed away. Not until 1997 did REAL PEACE began in Cambodia & REBUILDING & RECOVERY started.

About half of the populoation in cambodia are the young. Give it one generation and Cambodia should be on track. I am really offended when you said "stupidity commit by my countrymen." It's not stupid, it's low budget movie making and the directors aren't very experienced. If you don't like it, then I suggest you die and reincarnate back to the 1960's when our movie industry thrived. That is proof that Khmer can do anything in peacetime and without war. Open your mind.

i see where you're coming from. but it's really funny how so many cambodians, at least the ones online, complain so much about how poor cambodia is and how third world it is. people need to wake up and realize cambodia is still recovery a gendocide and ten or more years of vietnamese occupation. Cambodia didn't really emerge to the world until 1998 when Pol Pot finally died. Again, Cambodian needs time, it can't change overnight.
