Final Fantasy Tactics (ファイナルファンタジータクティクス, Fainaru Fantajī Takutikusu?) is a tactical role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) for the Sony PlayStation video game console. It was released in Japan in June 1997 and in the United States in January 1998. The game combines thematic elements of the Final Fantasy video game series with a game engine and battle system unlike those previously seen in the franchise. In contrast to other 32-bit era Final Fantasy titles, Final Fantasy Tactics uses a 3D, isometric, rotatable playing field, with bitmap sprite characters.
The game is set in a fictional kingdom called Ivalice, which has just ended its war with neighboring kingdom of Ordalia. The story follows Ramza Beoulve, a young cadet who finds himself thrust into the middle of a conflict, where two noble factions are coveting the throne of the kingdom. While the war was caused by a conflict of succession, Ramza was exposed to a plot that involved the kingdom's dominant religious organization.

Final Fantasy Tactics saw several re-releases. Final Fantasy Tactics was re-released as part of the Square's Millennium Collection. This series of games was only released in Japan, and each title is bundled with a set of related merchandise. Final Fantasy Tactics was released on June 29, 2000 along with titles such as Saga Frontier, Saga Frontier 2, Brave Fencer Musashi, Front Mission 3, Ehrgeiz and Legend of Mana.
Four years after its release in 1997, Final Fantasy Tactics was selected as part of the Sony Greatest Hits line of rereleases.[89] Games released as Sony Greatest Hits were sold at a lower price. Final Fantasy Tactics also became part of Square Enix Ultimate Hits; selected PlayStation and PlayStation 2 titles, which include games such as Vagrant Story, that are sold at discounted prices and are only available in Japan.
A PlayStation Portable version of Final Fantasy Tactics, entitled Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions was released on May 10, 2007 in Japan and is available across all regions. It is the second game announced as part of the Ivalice Alliance. The game features an updated version of Final Fantasy Tactics, along with new features including in-game cutscenes, new characters, and multiplayer capability. The updated mechanics contain a 16:9 widescreen support, new items, new jobs, and cel-shaded full motion videos. The English version contains full voice acting during the cinematic cut scenes, whereas the Japanese version does not.

  • where is the grand helmet and the maximilian in the psp version? I cant seem to find them....

  • @rijleader11 Make sure you lower a units brave to 10, the "treasure hunter." Then go to gamefaqs (website) and carefully read one of the three deep dungeon guides there for the playstation version, there shouldn't be any differences between the PSP version and the Playstation version on the spaces the items are hidden. Items are usually hidden under traps in Midlights deep dungeon.

  • @StoneMonkWisdom First of all, thanks for answering my question =D

I checked both traps where you found the items but I activate the traps without getting the items. I went with a protect ring so I`m inmune to doom and sleep, but still....

I`ll read gamefaqs carefully tmorrow =)

    Thanks again

  • @rijleader11 You need the Move Find Item ability equipped to your unit. Treasure Hunter movement ability in the chemist class. Set it to your treasure hunter that should have 10 brave for a 90% chance of collecting the rare item on the traps.

Again, it's good that you will check gamefaqs.

  • @StoneMonkWisdom I have the move find item equipped and a defense ring for protection against doom. How come I can't get the grand helmet from the spot where your ninja Howl found it?

  • @kuromaru15 Check your brave level at the door. You need lower brave to find rare treasures. With a 10 brave, a character will have a 90% chance to pick up a rare treasure from item locations.

  • @StoneMonkWisdom Ok. Well, I tried lowering the brave levels in the battle in order to avoid the warning and it worked in the END and Horror except for the spot where the Grand Helmet is located. Maybe, I'll try not to rush to the spot and see if it will work. Thanks for the advice but all doesn't work, I'll do yours.

  • Thanks for posting this video up. Don't let the few views deter you from posting future videos. I need that chaos blade thrown at me but I see different ways to get that on the internet. One says in araguay or whatever woods from level 95+ ninjas. Another is here but all ninjas eventually throw it but then I heard only the female ninjas after you kill the male ninjas. But then i heard you need all 13 zodiac stones first. And then I heard all your characters must be at level 85+ lol help!!??

  • @thejosecuellar I believe it's the rare battle or it's always random. Your just having a bad run of luck probably. There are a couple guides that mention a good amount of info for random encounters on gamefaqs . com. check out a faq guide to see stuff on the place you are checking out. (Playstation version of FFT has MANY guides).
