On September 30, 2010, funding for the TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) Emergency Fund will run out. The money has been used by 37 states and DC to fund work programs that directly pay salaries to new employees with children. This video focuses on the "Way to Work PA" program and its effect in Philadelphia.
20,000+ workers have been hired in PA. 4200+ employers in PA have received funding to pay the workers' salaries. This is a direct job creation program that has been working well across the country. Now is not the time to cut funding. Congress must extend the TANF Emergency Fund. Help 240,000 workers keep their jobs. Don't add to the 9.6% unemployment. Help employers keep the workers they need. Vote to extend the TANF Emergency Fund!
Produced by Community Legal Services and Philadelphia Unemployment Project
TANF has been an incredible success in moving millions of people from welfare to work and from poverty to the Middle Class. And deserves to be Fully Funded and extended.
