This couple is the most wonderful I have ever seen in pair skating... I always feel it is such a shame that this wonderful pairs had to become the victims of the American media. So much hypocrisy. Those who call that cheesy need to watch Salé/Pelletier again, honestly, what could have been more cheesy than their junior-looking "Love Story" program? These two may be classical but classical isn't always boring or cheesy when it's wonderfully executed.

@Kelter82 The reverse was true with the short program at that Olympics. The Canadian pair had a fall at the end and shouldn't have even been as close to the Russian pair going into free skate.

I love their costumes, especially hers - very romantic and just the perfect cut. His evoked masculinity. I love the fact that they wore contrasting colors. By the way, this rendition of Meditation is my absolute fave, esp. w/ the alternative ending.

Even with the minor flaws, it was still harder technically that the Canadians because they have harder foot work, and they are MUCH faster. Plus, their basic skating skills are better.

@accw dont forget that elena had a lot of difficulty with the split triple twist and usually did a double for the longest time and this one was as good as it gets. it was just amazing and dare i say breath taking?

@Kelter82 Oh but they did win and rightfully so and the only reason they had to share gold was because jamie and david and their coach threw a hissy fit. bad precedent or not... it was a precedent that was established by the judging of gordeeva and grinkov's flawed performance. if a flawed but beautiful performance is justified to win over a gorgeous and perferct program in 1994 then its just as justified here that a gorgeous program with a few flaws can beat a bland program with no mistakes.

just beautiful. what pair skating should be. The speed, the connecting moves, the spirals and spread eagles, the chemistry. Who cares if he stepped out of a double toe.

They definitely deserved gold. They actually had transitions and they had better artistry. They were one of the last great pairs teams.
