Great talk. But a question to the tech dept: why letterbox?

Community TV is an analog cable station that needs 4:3 programming, hence the letterbox (it was shot in 16:9). Nowadays we only letterbox for the channel, we leave it 16:9 for the internet. This was posted before that change in policy.

I remain confused about this "freezing destroys fiber" bit. What about flash freezing? Does IQF destroy fiber? It creates much smaller crystals.

59:44 --- So happy he, at least, calls the drug of abuse "Cannabis" and not "Marijuana"

Another sign that he is an educated man.

I meant $1.50. If people just get refills were talking pure profit still. Also as soda size goes down the cost for syrup becomes similar to that of the water in it so even regulating size is not going to effect the soda industry. My point is I think it will take a lot more to make the industry start passing the taxes on to the consumer, i saw this with cigs, taxes went up and RJR simply lowered the cost of Camels until a breaking point was met.

In 2004 I worked convenience. I calculated that it cost 10 cents for the syrup for a 64 ounce big gulp. The cups cost us 50 cents... We sold the soda for $1.50, refill for 75 cents. Soda is HUGE money, gigantic markup. How would taxes effect this? Wouldn't the delivery system, cups, be made larger? Also, say there was a 50 cent tax on a 64 ounce soda(2 liter) That raises base cost to 60 cents, then the cost of water, negligible, and cups. That is $1.10 and a profit of 45 cents still @ $1.75

One thing i don't understand. He sais that you can't freeze fiber without grossly ruining the taste but there's alot of frozen vegetables and berries around. Are they stripped from some of their fiber?

True, if we eat TOO much it's a problem. But surely you can't think that eating 2000 cal of sugar is the same as eating 2000 cal of fruits, veg, etc.....that's more to his point. He then adds that the reason we end up eating too much is because of the bio-chemistry of simple sugar.
