Hi Fred, when you had Steve on the ground in side control and had his arm trapped, do you think he could apply his strength and possibly sweep you by turning to the right just based on his strength alone @ 3:15?? or does it depend on how your distributing your weight on him and pinning him??
jujutsu727 - It depends on my leverage versus his; as well as timing of transmissions. Your question flows with the point of this video. Nicely asked. Take good care and train safe. Fred
Excellent caveats regarding differences in body types and the relative advantages and disadvantages from a given position. Nonetheless, in both cases, use of body weight was essential to breaking the stalemate. Very nice!
Jujitsu4u - Thanks for sharing your views on this video. I hope this video encourages more practitioners to take time and care to work on finding useful solutions. Of course, in time, other solutions (as skill levels change) may present themselves. Take care. Fred
Thanks Fred...when someone gets me in the "giftwrapped ' position I very explosively roll away from them which unwraps their hold and I am out. It is harder to do if he is mounted then you have to reach under the leg and go out the back door. It is better to mount someone if you are on top and put your leg over their free arm like you were doing. It is really better to just keep your arms close to your side(t-rex) so you never get into that position!

Geat points Fred! As a wrestling coach I often find that often two athletes doing the same move look much different. Letting the wrestler make the move his is important. As long as they are impoving and not doing some thing that will get him hurt I let them run with it. I try to guide and not micromanage.
