An overview of the pre-eminent institution for joint professional military and national security education. Located in Washington DC on Fort Lesley J. McNair, The National Defense University (NDU) brings together the next generation of our countrys military and civilian leaders, along with their international peers, for a program of study that has the unique capacity of allowing them to (a) interact intensively with one another over an extended, ten-month period; (b) understand the various components and capabilities of national power which they represent; and (c) come to grips as a group with the key issues that collectively they will confront as they rise to positions of greater responsibility and authority.
