Spanish artist Pablo Valbuena studied architecture at Valencia University of Technology in Madrid. He worked for several video game and film production throughout the world, and probed into application of VR into spatial concept and design concepts of digital architecture. His recent works mainly deals with perceptions towards space and time.
"Augmented Sculpture Series" emphasizes the instantaneous quality of space. It not only examines the 3D space in realm of space and time, but also the transformation of space. For this purpose, 2 dimensions are created to study the different orientations of real time and space. In one of the actual dimensions, real space is created, while a foundation volume is sculpted as support for the other dimension. On the second dimension, the transformation and progression of time and space is controlled via the means of virtual reality projections. The casacading layers creat a 3D space that transforms through self-growth, therby producing a multitude of transformation effects for time and space.
