I have finished the second volume in a two volume set on Swapping a 5.0L engine into a Fox body Ford. This is a short clip from the beginning intro. The finished video shows what is needed when installing a V8 into a Fox platform that may have had a 4 or 6 cylinder engine originally. The Fox that Im using in this production is an 88 Turbo Coupe TBird and the engine is from a 99 Explorer. In the first volume, I remove the 4 cyl. Engine and A4LD tranny. Some chassis work is done, a partial disassembly of a 5.0L, installation of a high lift camshaft, degreeing it in, checking clearances and make changes to the engine so it can fit in a Fox frame. The AOD tranny I install in volume 2 is the same one that I overhauled in my How To Overhaul the Ford AOD repair video. This second volume shows the rest of the drive train installation as well. It also has chapters on wiring this car up for EEC 4 EFI and how to troubleshoot electronic fuel injection. Future updates may include drag race suspension setups, maybe even an installation of a turbo or supercharger. Im asking you, the car guy enthusiast and former customers to suggest to me what I should add to this video project. Drop me an email with your thoughts. Please go to my web site for project updates and info on all of the BadShoe series How To copyrighted DVDs. Thanks...Ken BadShoe Collins.

  • Why would you want to swap out an awesome engine like the 2.3T for a 5.0?

The 2.3T stock shortblock will handle more HP than a late model 5.0 block (even with good internals) will.

I take a 2.3T under the hood any day, and laugh at the 5.0 in the rear view.

  • I use a Turbo Coupe mainly because this Fox is the most different and requires more changes, therefore using this dvd for other Fox project's will likely be easier. The film is bought by more people swapping a Mustang 2.3 NA, V6 or even building a street rod. I like the 2.3 turbo and other inline motors. Because there's a lack of HiPo aftermarket parts and the Bird is so heavy, I believe there's more bang for the buck with a V8. If you have a great Turbo Coupe, keep it and swap some other Fox.

  • so what is the difference between a C3 and C4 transmission?

  • The C3 is a light duty overseas built unit that was never used behind a V8.

  • hey i am a ford young man and i own a 89' mark 7 and just bought a 89 mustang GT not to long ago unfortunally the 5.0 motor was bad in the mustang so i've just completed the new 5.0 and went to a carb. and got every thing in the car, but i dont know much about transmissions and not to sure what exactly i have and my trans is also in the car now so i was wondering if it was a difference between a AOD and a c-4 transmission and would that make a difference for me and installing my driveshaft?

  • You should have an AOD in your Mustang. The AOD is a 4 speed auto. and a C4 is a 3 speed and it's shorter with a different mounting position. A C4 would not have been in a 89 from the factory.

  • man seeing this car brings me back to the tbird i had it was a 87 factory 5.0 with the same wheels you got sold it when i ran out of money and now i wish i had not sold it but if you know of anyone that needs front fenders and hood for these cars lemme know they just collecting dust in the garage along with the other tbird parts i got for 87 that is good video

  • also the mercury capri was the equivalent to the mustang from 79-86

  • Yes, I believe your correct however Ford's internal code name was SN95 for 94-04 Mustangs and most auto parts suppliers show those models as SN95 as well. 2005+ Mustangs of course are S197 and the 89+ TBirds are the MN12 platform.

  • I was under the impression the 94-98 mustangs were called the Fox4 and the 99-04 were the new edge SN95.
