  • The queen, Queen Elizabeth, in this newsreel is the wife of George VI and the mother of Princess Elizabeth--later Queen Elizabeth II. The queen in this reel is the Queen Consort to George VI.

  • Great and interesting newsreel. I'm so glad you are putting a lot of this stuff up. But small correction on the title of this newsreel: Elizabeth would have still been a Princess as of this newsreel's filming and original release. Elizabeth's father, George VI was still king at this point in time. Elizabeth wouldn't ascend to the throne until February 1952 when she became Elizabeth II upon George's death.
