  • i used to wear samue in my smithy. it is very convenient to hand-forge in, but forging machinery spits grease and oil on it, and it gets dirty too quickly. i like the feel of samue, but i don't have many, and since i live in the usa now, i can't buy them easily. so nowadays i wear samue at home when guest come, or when i go out to eat. i wish more people wore them -- they are comfy, and i think too many men wear really boring, predictable clothes, myself included, alas...

  • @kalevraa

A person wearing Samue doesn't exist in job to use oil and job of painting.

In Japan, we use it as the job which isn't fouled to that.

And a sleeve of Samue is hindrance in smith forging job.

  • very intersting i love to learn all i can about your culture can you order them and have them ship to the us?

  • Can you understand about Tekko?

    It is not for Throwing.

  • Good explanation sensei. Irs nice to hear more about Japanese culture. Japanese culture is much more fascinating than Us culture. Even though you wear keikogi in Martial rather than Samue, they seem more comfortable, and much more Practical. Take care sensei^^.

  • Thank you.

Of course, there isn't indemnify that Samue of long figure is good.

However, good manufacture of considerable many types exists in Japan.

As for Keikogi, there isn't change by season.

Samue is made in winter in the summer by different cloth.

I was wearing these Samue all the time from the front than I threw Shurikien in 1999.

  • the tekko are only use just to protect the back of the hand am i correct. do you know what happen to knifethrowing?

  • Thank you.

Because there was foolish people who mistook it for a Ninja dress, I uploaded this video.

The very few people whom wear samue and do martial arts exists, but it is "exception"

For example, I think that this person of this video was treated pretty vaguely.

When we film the memory photograph which foreigner had a Katana, they will give "Kimono for Japanese men"or Dogi or hakama, generally.

It seem to have done cutting corners in this filming work a little.

  • Thank you for a great video, Sensei. Very enlightening to Japanese cultural dress.

  • Originally, it is work clothes, but has fashionability too today.
