@siedschl More detail on that process. please. I have 1 line in (looking like his STREAMs 1,2,3,4) , digital Audio headphones, realtek Digital,and handset showing. Vista and XP were not so difficult to do.

So complicated having to run Audacity as well. Previous versions did not have all that involvement. WHY now. Make things simple not more complicated.

I tried but still can't record any sound. My playback audio has only TWO devices: speaker and digital audio (S/PDIF). Also my audigy audio preference set up looks diferent to yours.Thanks

@Rthomassc: do you see the four streams in your playback and recording devices in XP? Choose one of them as the default playback device and the same one as the recording device in Audacity. Or wait another one or two weeks, when a greatly simplified all-in-one recording solution will be released...
