There are a wide range of video formats available which may or may not play correctly on a given machine, depending on the codecs installed. This tutorial shows how to use Avidemux to convert videos of different formats to a directshow compatible one.

Required software:
Avidemux 2.5.1: http://avidemux.berlios.de/index.html
XVID 1.2.2: http://www.xvid.org/

  • i have a problem the when i opened 2d video the video showed like cross eye

  • @kakarot2055 You're only converting the compression format here. That allows you to pull it into 3DCombine and process the 3D side of it.

  • Not quite sure what you mean, but you need to ensure that the filename ends in .AVI to make programs recognise it as a video.

  • What's the problem you're having?

  • PLEASE HELP AND REPLY!!!!!

    When i load my CoD 1 .avi files into Avidemux 2.5.4 it shows a green screen. When i play it the sound is there but the video is not. How do i fix that??? I saw on the Avidemux forum it sid something about lowering the thread count??? PKEASE HELP!!!!

  • ah, i know it's way to late but i guess he had the same problem i had just now.

    i think what he means is, when saving his video it wont show as whatever he chose as format, even when naming the file *whatever*.avi.

    here's what i experienced;

    i chose to save the output file as *whatever*.mp4 but the codec i chose in the dropdown menu on the left didnt correspond with it :P yes i know im dumb... so after changing that to xvid it was okay.

    thx for the helpfull tut...

    cheers

  • yo when u save it y does it not look like a video format.and how do i fix this
