  • That queen sack was very unsound to me.Without looking with engine, but i see this line - 19 Qb3 and after black next move white will play Qb5 check forsing the exhange of queens. So 19. Qb3 Nxg2(Bxg2) 20.Qb5 check Qxb5 21.axb5 and after any black move white is a piece down and with bad game to play... but still better than losing Q for a Knight, and with much less pressure to deal with.Ofc. black can prevent the check by playing c6 but i doubt he would have played that.Any opinions?

  • @Znaiko Yeah.. err you say "Queen sac".. I think it was more like "Queen loss" :)

  • Why is the queen lost? What happens after 19. Qd2 ?

  • Excellent game KC. I really enjoyed it. I love how excited you get as well!

  • brilliant game, KC, but you had 38. Rxg6! which seems to be much stronger than 38. Bxg6+. (i haven't engine-checked this but all the lines lose for black). for example: 38. Rxg6 Rxe4 39. Rh6#. OR 38. Rxg6 Kh8 Rxg8+ Qxg8 Rxg8+ Kxg8 Bxf4. OR 38. Rxg6 Rxg6 Bxg6+ Kh8 Bxf7 Rxf7. or 38. Rxg6 Qxg6 Bxg6+ Rxg6 Rxg6 Kxg6 Bxf4. i don't see any other viable options for black, so it seems at the very least white has a winning endgame.

  • great game of chess and after the Q loss........splendid!!!......

  • Actually it looks like a lost position either way. In that case KC's queen sac might have been even more brilliant than we give him credit for.

  • @TheChessPlayer93 You're right, that would give white a fighting chance. I still might've preferred to take this line over the game continuation if I was black rather forcing an endgame with a good bishop against a passive knight. Obviously that's easy for me to say in hindsight, it is only blitz and I'm not in the same league as these guys!

  • @EClein2 I think if 39...Rg4, then 40. Rh6+ Kg7 or Kg8 followed by 41. hxg4. After that, white has two rooks for the queen, plus he threatens 42. gxh5 with a discovered check by the rook on g2, which should be enough to keep white in the game.

  • what a game

  • I have no idea why you had to lose the Queen here..

  • lol, This has got to be one of the funniest games I've ever seen. against a GM to---- lol.

  • @oneball1982 Yes, i wrote that i missed it below.
