Dave Karpf - Brower Youth Awards 2000

Dave directed the Sierra Student Coalition, which he described as a "bridge between enthusiastic youth who are eager to take part in David Brower's vision for 'Global CPR' and the Sierra Club's expansive network of environmentalists." Dave's involvement in the SSC began when he was a student at their High School Environmental Leadership Training Program. He was elected national director in 1999, and also served as Trainings Director and Roadless Campaign Coordinator. His work with the group allowed him to train over 250 environmentalists. "Students know they don't have to be apathetic about the destruction they see in the world. They can change things." Dave is currently working on his dissertation at the University of Pennsylvania and has been given an award from the Sierra Club for excellence in training.
