Actually you can tell a LOT about how a tire will perform by just looking at it. Size, compound, wear rating, siping, tread pattern, traction rating, warranty mileage, etc.

@panadevulpe Oh really, well here in nothern sweden where we don't use salt for the roads and just drive on the ice and snow, makes miracles on the slippery surface. An All season tyre in sweden is worthless, not much grip on ice and the rubber is to soft for the summer roads. The solucion, 1 set summer tires and 1 set wintertires.

@consumerreports Could you guys spell out exactly the problems with changing speed rating? My OEM tires were only "T" rated and not many performance tires have that rating. I'd like to understand exactly the risk I would be taking with a higher speed rating. Thanks.
