The conduct of the Phil. National and Local Election 2010 will be done through automation with the use of automated machines called "PICOS machines". These machines will be installed in all voting centers entire the Philippines. Voters ballots will be fed to these machines on election day and is expected to generate the election returns containing the total number of votes each candidate gained in every voting center right after the closing time of voting. Kalinga COMELEC Officer Atty. Rogelio Bagtang demonstrated in public during the celebration of Balbalan Women's Day last March 18 as to how these machines work and be operated in preparation for the participation of the voters of Balbalan for the forthcoming election that is set in May 10, 2010. To date, Balbalan Municipality is yet the only municipality of Kalinga to have watched the said demonstration so far.
