  • It's the Bee Gees doing their own version of THEIR song "Islands In The Stream"...this studio version is best...Kenny/Dolly covered it...the Bee Gees wrote it but it was originally a Barry demo on an unreleased album...this version was recorded for 2001's 2CD set "Greatest Hits: The Record"....it blows the Kenny/Dolly duet away....cool vid with the PA Tpk tunnels, never been thru em before.

  • @jimbo4222 No, there is only one tunnel before Breezewood coming from the Pittsburgh area. These are the first two coming from Harrisburg toward Breezewood, and there is a third before you reach Breezewood.

  • what is this song????

  • they put new sodium-vapor lights in the tunnels around '07. they start out bright then gradually dim down.

  • I was only child when I went to Dayton, Ohio to visit some Folks ,and I have been through all 4 tunnels . I was probably about 4 or 5 yearolds ,and it back in the 60's . I was sort of afraid of going through the first Tunnel because it was dark back in those tunnels . I would like to see a full episode in parts of a vehicle going through all 4 Tunnels . I hope someone will post a video sometime in the near future .

  • oh yeah that is a CD because you can't get FM or Sat Radio reception in the tunnels

  • US's first long-distance superhighway. Financed by the Gov't during the Depression. Private sources wouldn't finance, didn't think it'd pay. Opened in 1940. Traffic far exceeded initial expectations, bonds 'good as gold', 'world's greatest highway'. America said, 'we want more of these'... Could drive from NY to Chi w/o traffic lights by 1957. An inspiration for the I-hwy act of 1956.

  • ok I grew up three miles from the first one you show, the western portal of the Allegheny mtn. In the 60's, before they put in the 2nd portal, it would back up all the way to Somerset in heavy traffic sometimes. We'd hang a sheet over the bridge where we had painted "3 more miles" just to see everybody groan.

  • I grew up only 15 miles east of Breezewood. Actually, the Kittatinny and Blue Mountain tunnels were the easternmost of the 7 original tunnels on the original length of the Turnpike that started in Carlisle and ended in Irwin. Going from east to west went in this order: Blue Mtn, Kittatinny, Tuscarora, Sideling Hill, Rays Hill, Allegheny, and Laurel Hill. Hope that helps.

  • That's before breezwood going east correct? I can't remember right...

Breezwood is always the "Rest Stop" point when we go anywhere which involves traveling the tunnel, I have no clue why ha
