"Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)" is the first single Styx released from their album "Pieces of Gold" in 1978. It has been said the song was composed by Tommy Shaw after hearing the sound of his motor boat engine when it failed to start, making the riff of the song. "Blue Collar Man" peaked at #21 on the U.S. Billboard chart.
