Lion Dance practice with Ryan Au at San Francisco Wushu on March 13, 2010.

Lot of footage during this practice, a lot of it had to be cut to make the video shorter. Ryan brought the full lion with pants, so we tried to practice a bit of everything. Ryan's lion is pretty nice looking! :D

  • wher can i get one?how much would it cost?cool video!

  • @bongo2102000 I think you could order one if you don't live near a place that has them. I think the price ranges depending on the quality of the lion. I'm guessing at least $400 or so for the lower end. Feel free to ask your question at lionblogs(dot)com/contact/ and Ryan will get back to you.

  • UGLY !

  • @irwaas If you don't want to see ugly, stop looking in the mirror. Oh and here's a quarter, you should get a rat to chew that thing off your face. :)

  • I made my own head and attached a blanket to it. It looks pretty similar to the actual one.

  • lvl up

  • @mho14225 Nice, good luck with your performances!

  • @ngstylez Thanks a lot ! I'm going to be the head for a change and give it a try during practice. Gotta get this down to prepare for lunar new years lol

  • @mho14225 Yea, that happens sometimes. I think you can try to avoid it by having the head person keep the lion head extended up (arms straight) above the head when jumping up for the stack. Also, shoot the lion head up hard. I think doing this may help bring up the lion's tail up enough for the stack to happen before the tail drapes back down. And with the lion head more vertical above the person, the angle at which the tail drapes will be further back and out of the way. Give it a try! :)

  • When I stack with my partner he sometimes accidently steps on the tail while I am in horse stance. The tail gets caught between his feet and my thigh. How would we prevent this?
