A walk down memory lane at Kamiseya Japan. Tom & I were stationed here in 1963 to 1965. We were members of the USMC attached to Marine Barracks Company E. The last time I was on the base was when I left with my seabag over my shoulder the 1st of June 1965.
If you were stationed here in the 60's, you can see that the base is not at all the way we remembered it, with many buildings gone completely and those that are there are in bad shape. It's my understanding that a security guard US / Japanese tours the base a couple of times a day but other than that it sits vacant.
You'll be disappointed if your expectation is to see the spit & polish that existed when we were stationed there but if you use the photos as a memory peg to bring back a long forgotten thought / person / event that occurred so many years ago, I think you'll find them interesting and hopefully uplifting - it's in that Spirit in which I post them here.
