@asiahsalam9253 -masu is a polite/non-casual vb ending, you use it when you aren't talking to like, your friends & whatnot. there are lots of explanations online since there a lot of different situation you can run into & there are even more polite forms, & there are ways to talk down to people.. (& um.. start un-making friends)
I recomend it when you're talking to someone you're unfamiliar with, or in a slightly formal situation~~ that should be enough to go on for now I think ^^
