Why we Ride

This is for those who think there is nothing to riding horses. I live in a place that isn't very horse friendly. Most of my friends at my school think "Oh you ride horses, that's so cute." What most people don't realize is that riding horses IS a sport. It is also one of the Most Dangerous sports in the World. You don't just hop on a horse and instantly know how to ride. It takes practice, skill and the passion to strive for goals. It also takes the courage to take risks and to get back on when you've fallen. Anyone can ride a horse, but not just anyone can do something amazing- not just anyone can speak to a horse without words, not just anyone can hear a horse without being spoken to. That's what we do, we equestrians- barrel racers, Jumpers, Racers, every time we ride. ( Especially us Westernaires ;-) )
