Here's Congressman Roilo Golez's interpellation on the budget of the Department of Environment & Natural Resources (DENR). Golez worked with the Alternative Budget Initiative and Social Watch Philippines under the leadership of Prof. Leonor Briones in preparing for the intnerpellation, using the materials of said NGOs. Golez deplored the huge reduction in the DENR budget, which can be construed as the government's lower focus on the environment in 2010 compared to the current year 2009. Congresswoman Carmencita Reyes of Marinduque was the sponsor of the DENR budget, with DENR Sec. Lito Atienza present.
