I didn't notice where you said what Jesus meant by a sword. In another Gospel he said the same thing but that He came to send fire. The sword and fire are the same, the Word of God. That sword will cause division in the churches in the "last days" when some come to understand and others reject the new understanding, like new wine in the old wineskin. The red horse rider in Revelation has power to take peace from the earth... with the word of God.
