High end scanner, very rare now as once upon a time anything that appeared in print had to be scanned on one of these drum scanners, whether it be a transparency (slide, dia-positive) or flat artwork (photographic print, sketch or painting) There are only a few of us scanner operators left as with the advent of digital photography the art has all but died.

  • Still working in 2012 too!

  • omg! I knew there was one somewhere? Where is this one?

  • @exscanman Halfway between Folkestone and Dover in the UK... and still going strong!

  • Try Pete Slynn (Ex Crosfield Guru!) at pselectronics.co.uk and he may be able to help!

  • the imaging is still superior with a drum isn't it ?

  • @sonick808 Oh yes, if anything these machines were too good for the eventual printing process. Still using it now, mostly for paintings. It is rare for it to see a tranny, and by that I mean a transparency and not a man dressed as a lady.

  • @autounionv16 Hello, my name is Paulo Vargas, was very happy to see that still exist today scanner operators at work here in Brazil there are no more, I was a opredor Crosfield Magnascan 645 for 10 years and then operated on Hell, Cézanne and Heidelberg and Crosfiel think the best of all time.

Greetings and congratulations on your journey, keep us informed while on active duty!

  • I've still got one too, just don't have the dongle for it, can't bear to scrap this equipment, it produced the best scans ever,

  • Interesting how something spinning so fast can be scanned.

  • I used to run a Hell scanner. Scanning and the whole prepress industry is a lost art that many will never understand.
