John Piper says that our love for Jesus should control our love for another, not the other way around.

  • This guy is wrong. It's not the girl who needs advice but the guy. He's going to marry a girl who has given up her most precious tool: reason. That girl doesn't think any more but take orders from an old book without thinking and from others without using her mind. She accepts others say-so as facts, blank out contradictions, fakes reality.

  • @JunkmanJim 'Multiple credible sources'? Really. How bout this, google; 'People called Christians aren't really Christians', you'll find many credible sources! They say Hitler was a Christian, but was he really? So, you're so called credible sources calculate indiscriminately those who call themselves 'Christians' but really aren't. So, it's all here say, bogus, & utterly far from credible. Yet, what about the integrity of an Atheist marrying one who believes in the Christian superstition? Hmm?

  • @TroddinSod

Google atheist divorce rates, you will find multiple credible sources. You will also find that they commit less crimes, make more money, better educated etc. While these things are true, I don't believe that it is fair to say that atheists are superior but simply are not the villains that some would like to believe.

Loving and respecting people who believe differently than me is my duty as a rational human being. Those who lack this capacity have my pity.

  • @JunkmanJim Where is your evidence that atheists divorce less than Christians? Is it Atheist Assertion Magazine? Why would the unbelieving man, want to marry a woman who believes in, what you call a 'superstition'? Both the women and man are committing intellectual suicide for the sake of sex. Of course, your superstition is that life came from a monolithic stroke of luck in the Cosmos? Would you marry someone who didn't believe your superstition?

  • try congratulations.

Simple, wise up like your fiancé. Ditch the superstitious crap.

  • Maybe you can congratulate her on a good choice as people who do not believe in God divorce less than Christians. Perhaps we could talk about the relationship fallacy of saying that this woman loves Jesus less than her soon to be husband. Would you say that you love your mother more than your father? This better and best comparison shows that Mr. Piper is simply ignorant using this false dichotomy. He sounds great saying all this nonsense but don't choose who you marry based on superstition.

  • Well, maybe she just doesn't believe in the jesus myth but doesn't want to upset her family by being open about being normal.

  • 1 Peter 3:1-2

Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

  • 1 Corinthians 7:12-13

To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. (NIV)
