Music Therapy session

Pediatric music therapy engages children with special needs, such as Autism, on their level. Each session is designed around the child's individual goals. Sessions may include instrument play, singing, dancing, turn taking opportunities, with a strong focus on sensory and cognitive development.

I am extremely impressed with the Music Therapy. I think the skillset is completely underrated by many in the outside world. It truly is a therapeutic medicinal endeavor which means that it is a completely different animal from being a professional musician. The audience is not looking for a Yithak Pearlman or a John Lennon or a Mozart, nor a Led Zeppelin. The audience being a patient is a truly unique musical demand that throws out the rules regarding what you learn in music class.

I always listen to my clients, this is one of the major differences between music therapy and music entertainment. I assess my client, find out what they like and create goals that will improve their level of functioning.
