I Walked Out Into The Balcony. As The
Air Hit My Face I Could Smell And Taste
The Salt. The Rich Aroma Of Daises Filled
My Nostrils And Made Me Feel Butterflies
Just As I Did The First Day I Arrived. I've
Been Here For Five Days, The Sunny
Beach Of New Jersey And I Had Yet To Meet
Anyone Worth My Attention. Cocky?
No... Aware, Aware That I Wasn't Going
To Let Myself Get Hurt Again.

"Sel, Are You Going To Stay Here All Day,
Locked Up?" My Father Asked Me, From
Behind. His Voice Was Calm And
Pensive. "Is There A Problem If I Stay
Here?" I Asked Plainly, "No, But It Bothers
Me A Bit, I Wouldn't Like To Be Working
On my Book, And Wondering What's
Going On With You." He Added His Voice
At A Higher Pitch. "Well, I Guess I Could
Go For A Walk."... "Yeah, There's A Nice
Pier, Up North...You Can Meet Kids Your
Age And Chat."... "Daddd." I said a little
Aggravated This Time, And I Walked Out
Of His Sight And Into The Calm Sand.
Something About The Sand In Between
My Freshly Painted Toe's And The Waves
Calmed Me Down. It Was Serene.

As I Picked Up A Pearly White Shell, It Had
A Bit Of Shine To It. I Studied It, And Noticed
It Had A Tiny Hole On The Top Of It, This
Was Poking In My Curiosity. "That Was A
Murex." He Said From Behind, He Had A
Head Full Of Luscious Dark Colored Curls.
But Something That Brought More Attention
To Me Were His Eyes, They Were Light
Brown Almost Hazel...So Beautiful. "Huh?"
I Asked A Bit Curious Of The Subject "It
Was A Murex, Also Know As An Oyster
Drill. He Murdered That Poor Little Guy."
He Added Eyeing The Fragile White Broken
Shell In My Hand. "Aw. That's Kinda Sad."
I Added As My Heart Broke A Bit. "My
Name's Nick, And Yours?" He Asked As
He Spread Out His Hand For Me, With
A Smile Plastered On His Freckled Face.
"Mine's Selena."
