This is a slideshow of a ship in bottle, handcrafted by artist Gabrielle (Heather) Rogers. It depicts the steamboat "La Suisse," a ship on Lake Geneva Switzerland, that is over 100 years old, with swans flying overhead.
This ship in bottle is one of many created by Gabrielle and displays her skill and patience in capturing details at a miniature scale. The steamboat was constructed in a total of four seperate and very delicate parts, allowing the model to maintain its accurate scale, while being able to pass through the neck of the bottle.
Re-construction on the interior of the bottle was a challenge, and each piece had to be placed accurately, then glued together using long handled tools. Afterwhich, the numerous different rigging lines had to be pulled tight glued, and cut off cleanly inside the bottle.
