Nepal facing severe fuel shortage

Nepal is severely running short of fuel and in such a situation how to get hold of petrol is one of the hottest topics. It has created the chaos as the consequent shortage has led to rationing and pump queues of several kilometers. And even after queuing for a whole day, people here are getting only 10-15 liters and sometimes not even a liter.
Life is getting miserable and it's not those who depend on fuel for their livelihood but even those who don't, are suffering. Shortage of fuel supply has seriously affected the transportation because drivers jostle to keep their spots every time the queue edges forward and Nepali workers devote multiple hours or even days each week to filling up fuel.
As Nepal has just sworn in the new PM, tackling the increasing fuel problem and black-marketing of same remains one of the major challenges for the new Govt. to prove its metal.

Indian state of Orissa witnesses fresh spate of violence between

The latest spurt of deadly religious violence between Hindus and Christians in the East Indian state of Orissa is undoubtedly a blot on the secular credentials of India as a country. Orissa has a long history of Hindu-Christian clashes, usually sparked by Hindu's suspicions over missionary work.
Thousands of poor and lower caste Hindus have converted to other religions, including Christianity, often in an attempt to escape the rigid confines of Hinduism's complex caste system.
That has long embittered Hindu groups who say Christian missionaries try to lure the poor and those on the lowest rungs away with promises of money and jobs. Brahmanical Hinduism must relinquish such outdated institutions which foster inequality among different sections of the society and generate tensions.
Secondly, India is a secular country and our constitution guarantees fundamental rights including the freedom to preach, practice and propagate the faith we follow. Anybody who feels that their rights have been impinged should approach the judiciary through lawful means and seek justice.

Namibian women gambling away money earned by their husbands

Gambling is legalized in Namibia but it woefully has brought the new problem to the fore as more women than men are swept into the gambling.
Namibian women often gamble away the money earned by their husbands. This unbecoming behavior of women in the society is not only criminal against children but also is a direct call for violence against them. Adding misery to the poor, this practice has led to the wastage of the money that could have put food on the table for poor families.
Though Women's Action for Development offer training programs that are especially aimed at reducing poverty among women, but women on the other also not to squander away a little they have while running after the riches which will continuously evade you.
And inspite of Women's Action for Development programs, there remains lot more for the Govt. to do. Laws need to be amended and putting ban on gambling will surely reduce poverty and violence against women.

United Kingdom adds to the drain on global water resources

British overconsumption of water and its impact around the world warns of the hidden levels needed to produce food and clothing. Only 38% of the water used by the UK comes from its own resources, with much of the rest coming from countries such as Spain and Morocco, which face serious shortages.
The average UK household consumption for washing and drinking is 30 times more than the virtual water used in the production of imported food and textiles. What's particularly worrying is that the huge amounts of food and cotton we consume are grown in drier areas of the world where water resources are either already stressed or very likely to become so in the near future.
This need to be taken care of as we are knowingly contributing to the slow death of some of the world's most important rivers, and we may not be able to rely on the same supplies in the future, with fresh water now being described as "the new oil", a finite resource running out.
