Today we see how the Zoom H4n compares against the Olympus LS-10. These two audio recorders both record at similar bit rates but have very different microphones and mic configurations. I test both units mounted on top of my camera (Canon 5D Mark II) and I also test both units using a Audio Technica ATR 3350 lavalier mic. If you are thinking of getting either of the audio recorders check out this video and see how they sound and compare to each.

  • Thanks for the review of the different configurations. I am looking for audio recorders for an indoor activity and this helps.

  • @pmaddison Did you get an audio recorder? If so which one did you get.

  • what I meant is to record not better video, BUT better sound on the video... thanks!!!

  • Hello, I need som help here. I have Canon DSLR and olympus Ls-10. I have a question: Is it posible to mount this recorder on the top of the camera (if yes, what do I need?) and record better video through this recorder directly into the camera? I don't want to work a lot with synchronizing later wich takes time and I found is not very easy. Should I keep LS-10 or just buy a røde microphone to record better sond. Thanks for helping me, I really apreciate.

  • Your awesome !! :D thank you

  • Great review! you're a cool ass black dude lol

  • LS-10 sounds best

  • I have an H1 and an H4n, BTW. If money and compactness weren't an issue, I'd get a Roland R44.

  • Excellent! Thank you, Larry. I'm a professional musician, but sometimes I just want a SIMPLE demo, so I can make up my mind, and not all the specs (I can read!). Just what I needed...a simple comparison. The other BIGGG difference (to a musician, anyway) is that the Zoom has balanced XLR inputs for standard microphines. You can plug ANYTHING into an H4n...

  • Really appreciate your time on this I was wondering what it would sound like on a digital recorder and sounds much better than what most people are doing which is just connecting straight to the camera. Thanks again

  • Zoom is better in this video!!!!
