Just a reponse to a message sent to me - Im not offended just want to clarify that you cant really know someone from just one video!

This was the message from kopustiene (hope you dont mind the post):

well I didn't mean to offend you, or something like that, so, please, take it cooly.

three reasons, which make me think that you're an american:

1. your accent is american (but I am not saying it's ugly or smth)
2. you don't have a respect (I hope that's just a bad impression) for other cultures and histories, no matter good or bad they were (I am talking about your Vilnius blog, where you were completely SHOCKED by soviet architecure, which is probably very different, compared to american. (O.M.G!))
3. Only an american can use word 'c.rap, c.rappy, c.rapish' while talking about churches.

p.s.: yes, I am from Lithuania
p.p.s: once again - I didn't mean to offend you, but if this 'clash' will increase the number of your subscribers, that will be even better for you.
p.p.p.s.: no matter how much will you travel, but if you keep screaming (omg, that's so ugly and terrible, it shocked me) when you see something a bit strange, plain and not-so-idyllic, you will still be called a typical american.

  • Dude.. you seem to have the right mind. BUT, your comments seem to be really american/western european, indeed. That is the thing that you're so narrow-minded that all the churches in Vilnius look crap for you, you don't bother to look deeper into the history and architechture. For instance, have you ever hear about St.Ann church? Do you know that Napoleon dreamt to bring it straight from Vilnius to Paris. Also.. your ghettos in US look way crapier than those soviet-house districts.

  • I think that everyone tends to misinterpret words quickly...first impressions are just that, first impressions. I was never criticizing just observing. And I never said America was better! Id much rather be traveling or in Vilnius than in the US...

  • You are one of these Americans who get shocked even if they have white toilet instead of pink.

  • ???? "white toilet instead of pink" I have never seen a pink toilet in my life (o wait except the one upstairs!) What does this mean? Is there really a stereotype of Americans being shocked if they get a white toilet instead of pink? Hahaha that cracks me up...

  • yeah, I've missed word "paper"... toilet paper

  • pink toilet paper makes my bum pink...i prefer unscented, organic, environmentally friendly...hehe there are so many types of toilet paper! Friend, when I am traveling, I am thrilled to even HAVE toilet paper...I think you've read me wrong!

  • Those ugly, big blocks of barren apartment buildings are from the horrid and oppressed SOVIET years, when the Russians brought their UGLY, standardized architecture to Lithuania. Thank GOD the Russians are gone, the Soviet Union has been broken apart, and Lilthuania is once again a free and independent country.

  • Well, americans nor western europeans were raped by russians/communists. So that's why you don't have these ugly ass commie block suburbs.

  • I am Lithuanian but after your words, that we don't have landscape, I realised that you really were not in Lithuania :) And even in Vilnius. We have such a huge and fascinating nature. I can assure that it is 10 times bigger than in America (I do not talk about the size of it, of course).

If you are coming to Lithuania next time, write me :) I think after a second journey around it you willl change you mind radically :)

  • What, Vilnius-soviet architecture???

    It is not even close.

It is an old city build waaay before soviet union,

so only part of it was built in soviet times.

  • You look nice :))

  • on question mate ;) did u ever been in Detroit???????? What can u tell about?

  • Okay, I'm sorry..

  • I think you are great! And you have the chance to travel for free.. C'est Génial! PS: I leave in Switzerland... I am going on a World tour next month.. I am so exited to see the world like you did!

  • mate dont worry about it...I've lived in vilnius for years and can safely say that many of the suburbs are crap! Old town is lovely though:)
