This video is part 4 of my continuing tribute to the late Carl Sagan.

Excerpts were taken from Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space. More specifically, from the chapter titled The Gift of Apollo. I edited together the audio from the audio-book, and added the video from:

- Apollo 13 (Film)
- BBC's Space Race
- BBC's Walking with Cavemen
- Carl Sagan's Cosmos
- Discovery's Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking
- History's Failure is not an Option
- Quest for Fire (Film)

The music is derived from two songs on the Lost soundtrack: Landing Party and Nadia on Your Life.

  • When I'm feeling sad I listen to Mr. Sagan and all his teachings are a big reason why I'm going into science. I told my patents today that I was an atheist and now their beliefs lead them to think that I have problems. Perhaps I should show them these videos and prove to them what is true and what is false.

  • Thank You for this.

Carl is an amazing man, with amazing ideas.

No amount of time would have been enough to have him with us, we were lucky enough to have him at all.

  • @zrouth Actually, there is a right or wrong, true or false. In terms of absolutes? It depends what, while the others could be argued. To try to use this pseudo-philosophy so many people like to use, as you are doing, is, and I know this is rude, laughable.

Who IS to say our visions of aliens and God are but not the same, but, by using this warped sense of thinking that "anything goes without proper logic, reason, and evidence", who IS to say I'm not an asexual unicorn-pixie?

  • @Adronomics Good on you, people forget that their elders aren't bastions of endless knowledge, but flawed humans like everyone. The most important quality to gain independent knowledge is to question.

  • 2:25 - I am always dumbfounded by the real beauty of the world trade centers. Quite impactful that they are in this clip

  • @Adronomics There is no right or wrong. No true nor false. On a clear blue sky there is no distinction between east and west. We make that distinction in our own mind and then believe it to be true. Neither be for, nor against. Make a hair breadth difference and heaven and earth are separated. Your parents have their views and you have yours. Who's to say that our vision of "aliens" or our vision of "god" are not actually one in the same species far beyond our primitive own.

  • “I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking." - Carl Sagan a few hours before he died, a man who stuck to his logical reasoning untill his last breath, R.I.P. Mr Sagan.

  • @Adronomics Courage, young man. Keep seeking. Keep learning.

  • @Adronomics

    Show them this one:

  • @rgtmp... Turn down the volume!

  • @mooseclamps Basically that if people can make metals float when our intuition says they should sink, then an all powerful god ought to be able to make an individual 'float' into heaven. We figured out how to pull it off ourselves in a manner of speaking.
