Yes, these three universities share the same fight song. I did take Furman's song because I tried Niagara's and admitedly, it sounded horrible (Sorry!)
Niagara is in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and Furman is located in Greenville, SC- a representative of the Southern Conference. Elon is in the same conference as Furman, but located in another state: Elon, NC. I may say that this song is regoinalized- only heard in the east. I would like to hear the history of the song. Do let me know about it. Comment cleanly.....

  • My high school....Seneca High School, Louisville, KY: "Seneca forever/loyal and true/Our hearts will never/change our love for you.../Seneca forever/be brave, be bold/Fight for our colors/of red and gold."

  • Wait a minute.

Aren't Elon and Furman in the same conference?

That whole fight song thing must get weird whenever they play each other.

  • Furman University Christian Knights!

Honor," the fight song style alma mater of Rice University. The lyrics of "Hail the White and Purple," sometimes called "Hail to White and Purple" are synonymous.

  • This is taken straight from "College fight songs II: a supplementary anthology"

    Hail The White and Purple

    (Furman University)

The "Paladins" of Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, use the trio (main section) of a famous march, "Our director," as the melody for their fight song "Hail the White and Purple." This outstanding piece of music, wtritten by Frederick Ellsworth Bigelow (1873-1929) in 1895, is also used for "Our Director," a fight song of Harvard University and for "Rice's..

  • That's my high school's fight song!

  • Don't know much about the history except that it's called "Our Director" and it was written by F.E. Bigelow. You might be able to google him and learn more about him. I really don't know any other songs that he composed. BTW this was my high school's fight song in Oklahoma and there are five other high schools that I know of that use it too.

  • Actually, this isn't regionalized. High schools all over the country use this song as their fight song, but they call it the Our Director March. I went to school in Idaho, and I can think of at least 6 schools that used this song.

  • another well-put video! Keep up the good work!
