GM 3400 V6 Camshaft Position Sensor Hall Effect Bypass Test. The main purpose of this type of testing is for accuracy and speed in verifying that no opens or shorts exist in the cam sensor signal wire.

  • isn't a computer wired for 5v not 12v if you touch it with 12v wont you damage the ecu

  • @Howardtripper For this circuit, no, it is a 12v on/off square wave signal. For other lower voltage sensing circuits you still will not damage the computer with a higher voltage through your test light. The only voltage I have seen "hurt" an input circuit was an injector control wire touching a 5v ref. wire. This was causing 120volt spikes to surge through the entire 5v reference circuit. It cooked the MAP, AC pressure sensor and the PCM.

  • A cheep test light and a scan tool that provides OEM data is all you need. The scanner in the video is a Snap-on Solus Pro.
