@SuperMikiwan The group Pink Martini is exceptional in presenting musical experiences that grasp the soul with passion and loving tenderness. My granddaughters, who do not understand any Chinese, nonetheless find this song to be beautiful and uplifting. When the timing is correct, there is no problem with the translation. Otherwise, it's very disorienting for those who understand the Chinese when the lyrics don't match up. This is not an original composition by PM, but a traditional song played in Taiwan/China to celebrate Chinese New Year. The traditional imagery associated with it is usually red envelopes, firecrackers, and banquets. Search 恭喜恭喜恭喜你. Nonetheless, the images are still lovely.

Whether or not the music and singing provided are exactly as the "traditional song," the music, singing, and lyrics (from the CD jacket) as presented by Pink Martini are their artistic creation and I respect that. While there are many individuals in the world who understand the Chinese, the majority of the world does not and can perhaps enjoy the entire production in a less biased manner. Peace

Hi, your lyrics are mistimed. You should have them as below:

1:12 - bring in the lyrics from 1:21.

1:21 - bring in lyrics from 2:17

2:17 repeats first verse.

Also, Congratulations only repeats 3x in the chorus, not 4. Nice images by the way. A bit curious for this song, which celebrates a largely secular holiday, but nice to watch! Thanks for the upload.

@Trogdorfan107 Thanks for your detailed corrections as you would see and hear them. The lyrics I used, and the apparent paragraphical pairings are from the creators of the music and lyrics. Any apparent translations are direct from the authors. I am responsible for the pairing of sounds and images. I am a notheist and do not feel obliged to grant ownership of "secular" songs to the secularists. Thanks again for the input.

@TheGrayFog I listened to it and recognized it was a familiar song but just could not figure out what that song is... it took me awhile but I found it here again... like it =)

Unfortunately, the translated lyrics are wrong, and mostly don't correspond to the words. The chorus is "Congratulations" 3x, not 4. At 1:13, the next set of lyrics about the night and the chicken should appear. You need a new verse for the male voice at 1:21, which is about having gone through suffering: "How much suffering have we undergone," &c and then how glad they are to hear the news at midnight of the New Year. These are the lyrics you have beginning at 2:17. 2:17 repeats 1st chorus.

Thanks for the nice comment. My daughter and granddaughters heard the CD at Starbuck's also and knew I would be a fan of the collection. I have experience with sounds as therapy and always find Pink Martini provides great unexpected stimulii. Peace, Mike
